Very good for breakfast! Great service, quick food. Had a food allergy in our group and were taken care of.

Food was very good. Serve was a bit slow, place was busy. Nickel and dime you, charged $1.00 for this cup of powder sugar. Would come back, just need to be careful what extras you order.

Good for lunch brunch! Waitress was helpful, food was good. Not oversized portions but not too pricey either.

Outstanding college town gem. Friendly and attentive staff. Fantastic array of breakfast and brunch offerings. Get in early before the tables fill and the doors close at 2pm. Try the Brotomushepperasheese ("Broto") if you're up for a local fave and taste sensation. The Wooden Chair lives up to it's name in decor, ambiance, food, fare and hospitality. Stroll on in when you're downtown in Stevens Point. You won't be disappointed.

Had breakfast this morning, great staff, great food, eclectic atmosphere. Food tastes like the cook really cares about it! Nice options for breakfast, basic menu that is not so big you get a headache trying to pick something. Obvious local favorite but we felt welcome as visitors. Definitely a spot we will return to.

This is a nice place for breakfast or brunch. We arrived at 10:30 on a Saturday and the place was mostly full. There is a huge farmers market down the block, so It has a lot of exposure on a Saturday morning. The décor certainly fits the namesake. The diner is filled with mismatched wooden tables and chairs. It looks like they hit every rummage sale in town for a year to collect such a menagerie of furniture, but it works in the scheme of things. The walls are the original red brick of the structure and are adorned with early 20th century artifacts and pictures. There are lots of tools from the period and even an old phone, the kind you hold the ear piece and talk into the mouth piece. They had pop music from the 70s as background. Took me down memory lane. Ambiance aside, the wait staff is friendly and attentive. The menu includes many typical breakfast and brunch items and a few unique additions. I ordered the veggie pita pizza. This is a vegetable pizza on a pita. It had broccoli, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes on a pita with pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese. It came with several side options. One was cucumber dill soup. Something I didn't want to try. I ordered a fruit bowl consisting of Pineapple, grapes, honeydew, and muskmelon. Everything was good and my coffee cup never ran dry. The restrooms were clean. This place will be on my radar next time I come to Stevens Point.

Really nice breakfast banana half half chocolate chip pancakes! Omelette was good too and staff were friendly and service minded. One of the better American breakfast places I've visited. Premises are inviting, genuine and inspiring. Ambience is really nice. I can really recommend this place.

We had a Steven's Point Brewery tour scheduled for 1pm and needed somewhere to go beforehand for a late breakfast. We were planning on arriving at The Wooden Chair about an hour beforehand. However, when you take road trips and try to plan departure and arrival times, it doesn't always work out the way you want it to and we got there around 12:30. Is 25-30 minutes enough time to get a good breakfast and run to the brewery? Yes. Yes it is. We were seated quickly and handed menus. The place is pretty cute. Has a bunch of mismatched wooden chairs and some old memorabilia on the walls. The breakfast menu wasn't all that large. Just some basics. However, there was nothing basic about the food, but more on that in a second. We saw the table next to us order pancakes, and they looked pretty fluffy and big, so we got the same thing: a short stack with two pancakes. Trust me, that's all you need. Within about 7 to 10 minutes, our food arrived. These were some serious pancakes. The buttermilk made them deliciously sweet and the syrup that came along with it was definitely homemade. These were honestly some of the best pancakes I ever had. Once we finished, we paid and left and made our brew tour. If I'm ever back in Steven's Point, I would most certainly come back here for breakfast or lunch. Service was quick and our waitress was really nice and checked on us multiple times. You really can't go wrong here.

Coffee was great, ambience was good. Worst omelette ever. How about put the cheese inside the omelette so all veggies and meat don't just fall out? American fries were basically raw. The Eggs Benedict hollandaise sauce was very bland, not tart enough as well. Pancakes were good.

Wonderful food! I had the eggs Benedict florentine special that was delicious. My son had an omelet and my husband had the oatmeal with fruit. Great on cold morning!

Great omelets, and great toast! The chocolate muffin I had was the best I've ever had. Not usually into the "country cooking" type places, but this place is very good.

the home made bread was DELICIOUS! but the omelette was only ok. i wouldn't go back but at least our server was friendly if unattentive...

The Wooden Chair was the perfect stop for lunch as we start our vacation. We have 10 in our group. They were able to seat us right away. Service was fast and very friendly. Our 4 year old nephew was able to be entertained by the decorations asking what the "old time mixers" were. The food was fantastic. Everyone in the group ordered something different. We will definitely be back next year on our trip.

One of our fav places in SP. We beat the crowds for breakfast, but with only 10 minutes until lunch, we decided to kill a few minutes so some of us could enjoy the sandwich menu. So the breakfast eaters had the banker's breakfast and another had pancakes. The stack of pancakes was huge, although it was only 3 -- nice and fluffy. Bankers' breakfast - omelette with hash browns, bacon, cheese was accompanied with some great tasting home made bread. The lunch crowd had the Monte Cristo on whole wheat - lightly battered classic with fruit and The Rocker on whole wheat with chili. Great attention, love the décor. Always have had a good meal, and good service.

Greatest breakfast place ever! The service is great, food is great no matter what you get and there are daily specials that you've got to try! Definitely a must try.

I've been going to this place the 5 years I lived in point and not once have I been disappointed. There was never one thing on the menu I wouldn't order. Everything is homemade/made-from-scratch and you can really taste the difference. I probably went here twice a month for 5 years. Never had any issue, great lunch deals. Try whatever is on the board when you walk in. You won't be disappointed. Friendly staff and me and my friends would always joke that we were the youngest people there almost everytime we go. But hey, old people know what tastes good. I point everyone that direction that asks where a good place to eat is in point.

Excellent homemade food and great service. The whole wheat bread is noteworthy. Lots of antiques and historical photos to keep your eyes busy while you're chewing.

We were hoping for something special based on the reviews, but our experience was not so good. Our waitress was slow working one table at a time. The food was sub par. Over easy egg was over medium; hash browns were soggy. However, when I complained at checkout they did not make me pay, so I will give them another shot, so they obviously wanted us to enjoy our meal.

My favorite breakfast joint. We always receive friendly service. The food is great! Their soups are genuinely delicious. They like children; a plus. I eat here often and I'm never disappointed.

I like this unique downtown eating experience. They are a breakfast/lunch type place. Quaint atmosphere and good food. If you want something that is not a chain and had some character, this is it! There can be a wait at times because they are well loved spot.

A great cafe that is only open during breakfast and lunch hours. The food is healthy with a hint of greasy spoon flavor, yummy. I had the gluten free bread last time I was there and there was no upcharge which I thought was a nice touch. The waitstaff is always super friendly. If you get there right during the noon rush hour you may have to wait 10 minutes for a table because this place is so popular We just usually go before or after the noon rush so we can get seated right away. The food never takes long even if its's busy because its a sandwich, soup, breakfast food kind of place. If the street parking is full when you go, there is a back entrance to this place so you can park in the "Library" parking lot area and enter from there. Enjoy

We went on a mini-vacation last week to land near Stevens Point. We used the GPS to find a Starbucks, then asked the locals where to go for breakfast. They sent us to the Wooden Chair. I really liked the decor; antique tables and chairs, none matching. Also had plenty of other antiques scattered about on the shelves and walls. Definitely our speed. The service was really good. Our waitress was very sweet and when she gave us the bill, we noticed her impeccable handwriting. Obviously she is extremely detail oriented. The food was only ok. There was mold on the bread of the french toast. And I had difficulty finding anything vegan on the menu, so I stuck to toast and potatoes. Next time we are in the Stevens Point area, we may stop there again.

Good food in a family style restaurant. I don't think they have more than two identical chairs here. It's a good place to spend with your family and friends. But if you are alone, they have books for you to read. Fireplace in the middle of the wall add to a warm atmosphere.

Great breakfast joint, with a wonderful atmosphere. Sit by the fire if you can. With that said, I always go for a traditional breakfast (bacon, fried eggs, hash browns and toast) on my first visit to a breakfast place, and The Wooden Chair didn't disappoint. Rarely is bacon the top item on the plate, but this was crispy and meaty with outstanding flavor -- I'll put it up against most bacon I've had and this wins (I eat a lot of bacon in Wis.). Also, the sausage links, which my son got, were much better than the typical links at most places. Service was good, but I'll admit, we were there early on a Sunday in a college town, so it wasn't crowded. Still, it's warm and friendly -- perfect when the temp hits single digits. The hash browns could've been a bit crispier, but still were good. I expected a better, stronger cup of coffee, too, but it was run-of-the-mill, greasy spoon style. Definitely going back.

Local brunch fixture with all the classics and an odd twist or two (e.g. "The Crabby Guy"). Stopped in for lunch while headed north to Rhinelander. Definitely didn't want a chain, and definitely didn't get one. The Wooden Chair is that downtown luncheon spot every city needs. Breakfast served all day, bottomless cups of decent coffee (even the decaf has flavor), warm, friendly folks, and lots of wooden chairs. Reasonable prices for solid, midwestern fare.

Very quaint little restaurant right in downtown Stevens Point. They had a very good breakfast/brunch menu and the service was good and the food came out quick. My sandwich was excellent and my wife and daughter both enjoyed their breakfast food. The restaurant is located in a historic building and the decor is very original and inviting. We stopped to break up the trip from Madison to the Northwoods and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to do the same thing, it is about half way.

I think the place is a little overrated, but I've found that options for good breakfast food are surprisingly limited here. I'm between 3 and 4 stars; solid, but nothing more in my opinion.

My kids had their pancakes, which were absolutely humongous, but seemed a little dry. They didn't seem to mind too much, though. I had a turkey sandwich with avocado, and their homemade chips, and both were really good. I also got a side of hashbrowns, which were also good. I'd love to come back for breakfast or lunch again and try some other menu items, as I don't think what we had was the best representation of their cooking. The place always seems to be busy, though, and the server was really nice and attentive without being overbearing, which is always a plus.

Super cute space. Pretty good food and coffee. The service was super courteous too and we got a table right away. Like most restaurants, they should specify that fresh fruit really only means cantaloupe. That was the only let down.

I came here with a few friends. The food was very tasty. I had blueberry pancakes and they were delicious. They serve breakfast all day, and they also have a lunch and dinner menu too! The restaurant itself is in an old bank building downtown, they have lots of old photos and doodads on the walls.
